Adoption day!

So long story short. We unexpectedly received a miracle we have been wanting for the last 9 years. Tyler willingly gave up his rights to AJ and she became a Dawson! August 3rd is now adoption day for us. We didn't expect it but when the opportunity arose we ran with it and made it happen. There are many factors, people and emotions involved in a situation like this. All in all it was smooth and everyone handled it well.
After Tyler signed the papers in front of a judge it was time to break the news to AJ. I was more emotional than she was. We took her to the temple and explained that right now Tyler couldn't be the dad she needed and he knew that. Tyler loves Glenn and trusts him to be her dad so he was turning the job over to him. We explained that in the eternal perspective this was already done. She was sealed to us. This was just making it legal on Earth. She was excited about changing her name. She is still a little confused about Tyler just dropping out of her life and has moments of sadness but she says when that happens she prays about it and the Holy Ghost gives her peace to know that this was what needed to happen and that it will all work out. She is so mature sometimes! Almost 12 already! She really has a strong testimony and an open heart to feel the spirit. Amazing girl.
The Mehls took the news well and said they felt it was right as well. I had to involve Grandpa Bailey in being the one to deliver the papers and go to court with Tyler but he said it went smoothly. Our attorney was great. The judge made it an easy experience. I am relieved to know that if anything ever happens to me that AJ will stay with her sisters and dad. Glenn feels whole. We are an eternal family. I am so thankful for this unexpected blessing from above.
